Ever since finishing SHERIFF’S SECRET I’ve wanted to know more about Callan. He’s had a hard time ever since moving to Brig Ferry Bay with his brother and sister to open a Bed & Breakfast. As an openly gay young man with an artistic flair he definitely got some attention. Not positive attention either. At the beginning of CALLAN’S ATLAS, Callan is suffering from the aftereffect of his ordeal.Callan has been living a dark life. Colors he once loved to paint with don’t bring him any joy. He feels smothered by his friends and family - all wanting to help, but not knowing how. To add even more stress to his situation, his best friend (with benefits) seems to be falling in love with him and as much as Callan wishes he could return those feelings, he doesn’t. He’s afraid he’ll lose the friendship if he makes his feelings clear, but he knows he can’t keep stringing Zak along. Basically, Callan is in a dark place and his family and friends are making it worse.Atlas, the new cop in town, isn’t necessarily happy to be back. He only agreed to come back because of his sister Brie, a deputy in Brigs Ferry Bay. Trouble that always seems to find Callan and even though Callan wants to be left alone and treated like an adult, he realizes that sometimes it’s okay to lean on someone. That someone for him is Atlas.This is a great story. I loved the interaction between Callan and Atlas. Atlas accepts Callan for exactly who he is and encourages the color that is returning to Callan’s world. It’s a beautiful love story with plenty of hot alpha, kinky action. This book is super intense. Very nasty homophobic people are a constant. It made me a little anxious for Callan’s safety many times. He was always in peril!I mean he already had a baseball bat to the head in book 1 what more could he endure in his own book.I wish I would have had a bit more warning tbh. Several townspeople are VERY homophobic in this book. To the extreme. Gay slurs. Just full on bigotry. This is your trigger warning ,if homophobia bothers you ,this might not be the book for you.Homophobia was like another main character in this book.Was the chemistry hot? Sure.Was there an HEA. Uh huh.BUT do the baddies get their comeuppance? Not even close ugh. For this reason, the max I could give this book is 3 stars ⭐️. So disappointing.
